Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Review

We have been meaning to get around to doing more reviews here on NailArtForBeginners.com, so what better way to start of the New Year than by doing just that!  Today we will be featuring our Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Review.

sally hansen miracle gel reviewHere is a breakdown of what this Miracle Gel actually is:

The ONLY TRUE 2-STEP GEL MANICURE with no light needed. Over 45 shades that wow! And it’s only from Sally Hansen. Leading the revolution in gel technology.

It is safe to say we are obsessed with gel nail polish (minus the annoying removal part), so we were looking forward to how this actually compared.

As the description says, it is a 2 step process.  You simply apply the polish color and the top coat (no base coat needed).

Most shades only require 2 coats of polish for perfect opacity.  However, the color used above (Birthday Suit) required 3 coats.

The nail polish itself applies very smoothly, and very close to the way a traditional gel polish would apply.

It features a wide oval brush stem (which is our fave for perfect application).

Once you have applied your coats, it is time for the top coat.  It comes in a black bottle that can easily be mistaken for a black polish color, so be careful to read the top of the bottle when purchasing (the top of the bottle clearly does indicate whether it is Step 1 or Step 2).

The top coat is your typical top coat, HOWEVER, the “gel polish” scent is definitely noticeable, so be prepared.

Once you have applied your top coat, the polish dries fairly quickly, just like your typical gel polish.

The finished look (and feel) to your nails is exactly like you have stepped out of a salon! 10/10!

Staying Power

We have found that this polish is virtually the same in terms of staying power in comparison to your typical gel manicure.

One of our big tests here at Nail Art For Beginners is the bath test.  If our manicure is in-tact after taking a bath, then we are pretty happy polishers.

Sally Hansen’s Miracle Gel definitely passes the bath test.

We don’t want to say the Miracle Gel lasts X amount of days, because truly, everyone’s nails and lifestyles are different.  For whatever reason though, our manicures do not last very long before chipping- it doesn’t matter if it’s regular polish or gel polish.  So, it’s not odd for our gel manicure to start chipping by day 2 or 3.

What we will say though is Sally Hansen’s Miracle Gel is virtually identical to having a professional gel manicure done at a salon.

The other bonus?  It comes off SO quick with nail polish remover!!!  The first time we went to take it off, we got the acetone out.  Not needed at all.  We were practically dancing.

Sally Hansen’s Miracle Gel is a wonderful and economical alternative to going to the salon to have gel nails.  Depending where you live, the polish ranges in pricepoint from around $7.99-$12.99.  The top coat tends to run a little higher (again, depending where you live) from around $9.99-$13.99.  The good news is you only have to buy one bottle of topcoat.

We love this stuff, and highly recommend it!

Overall rating:  9/10.
